Diel’s newest single “Majesty” is an uplifting ballad to all women of Jamaica. Given the unfortunate uptick in the media discussing acts of violence towards women, the artist wanted to use his music to empower women.
“‘Majesty’ is an anthem for ALL women, with no discrimination to age, class, ethnicity, religious background and nationality,” shares the artist with BASHY over email. “We originally had a different concept for the visual, but because of how the year started off in Jamaica with a crazy amount of gender-based violence cases, we decided to highlight prominent women in the Jamaican society and to just show them off to counteract that negative energy.”
The video captures some many widely known and some of the country’s well-known women in their moments of glory, like recent Miss World winner Toni-Ann Singh, the Reggae Girlz and newly-minted Grammy award winner Koffee.
